PURPOSE + REPURPOSE
Feb 11th 2023 i had my 1st ever NYFW Runway show. It was held at LAAMS NYC & captured by kidzrevil. During this show i displayed my brands merch as well as Dresses & Bags I’ve made. i called the dresses the 4 Armed Sheeva because they were repurposed from a set of old GAP flannels i had no use for. I initially had plans to just make 2 different flannels with the 2 by cutting them in half and sewing them together to give off that 2 tone look. after I finished sewing them together i placed them on the floor and realized they kind of look like dresses with the 2nd flannel arms appearing to look like the belt. I then decided to scrap the original project to make dresses. The bags were called the Dusties. I worked at The RealReal & noticed they throw out the dust bags (hence the name) when customers didn’t want them. Of course me being me, I took them home. I seen them together to make an even bigger bag. I never really was the one to want to be apart of a fashion show but I realized I have to play the “fashion world’s game” at times. I knew exactly where i wanted to hold it. I hit my guy my fly toasty to connect a few things and give me the contact of the owner of LAAMS NYC. I stopped by and chopped it up with Scotty & was told this would be his first fashion runway at his location which was wierd to hear because the narrowness of the store is perfect for them. The day of the show, it’s started off a little shaky but ended to be once of the best experiences i ever had. thank you to everyone who showed up, to my assistance, to the models to the energy in the air.
